1. Who we are

Chat Backup to PDF (the "App") is developed and operated by [YOUR NAME / COMPANY] ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

2. What the App does

The App lets you convert exported chat archives from messaging services (such as WhatsApp, Claude, and ChatGPT) into PDF documents. All conversion happens locally on your device.

3. Information the App accesses

3.1 Chat files you choose to import

When you tap "Upload" or share a file to the App, Android grants the App temporary read access to that single file. The file is read into memory or the App's private storage area only for the purpose of parsing messages and generating a PDF.

• Your chat content (messages, sender names, timestamps, embedded media) is processed only on your device.
• We do not transmit, upload, store on any server, or share your chat content with any third party.
• We do not read, scan, or analyze your chat content for any purpose other than producing the PDF you requested.

3.2 Recent files list

The App keeps a list of recently opened files locally on your device (filename, source service, timestamp, and a URI reference) so you can reopen them quickly. This list never leaves your device. You can remove any entry from the Recent files section in the App.

3.3 Generated PDFs

PDFs you create are saved to your device's Downloads folder using Android's standard storage APIs. We do not receive a copy.

4. Permissions

• Internet & network state — required by Google AdMob to fetch the rewarded ad shown before PDF export.
• Storage (Android 9 and below only) — required to save generated PDFs to the Downloads folder. On Android 10+, no storage permission is needed.

The App does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, precise location, SMS, call logs, accounts, or any other sensitive permission.

5. Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display a single rewarded video ad before each PDF export. This keeps the App free. Google AdMob is a service provided by Google LLC.

When an ad is requested, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and send the following to Google for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention:

• Your device's Advertising ID (a resettable identifier you control in Android settings).
• Approximate IP-based location (country / region level).
• Device information (model, OS version, language, app version).
• Limited ad-interaction data (impression, click, completion).

We do not send Google any of your chat content, file names, or personally identifying information. Ad data handling is governed by Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy .

You can reset your Android Advertising ID or opt out of personalized advertising at any time from your device: Settings → Google → Ads.

6. Age restriction

The App is intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed to or designed for children. We do not knowingly collect any information from individuals under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the App. If you believe a minor has used the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

7. Data retention

• Chat content is held only in memory or temporary storage during conversion and is discarded when the operation finishes or you close the App.
• Generated PDFs remain on your device under your control until you delete them.
• The Recent files list lives in the App's local preferences until you remove an entry or uninstall the App.
• Ad-related data retention is governed by Google's policies linked above.

8. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. The only third party that receives any data from your use of the App is Google AdMob, and only the anonymous advertising data described in Section 5.

9. Security

Because all chat processing happens on-device and we operate no server, there is no central database of user data to breach. We rely on Android's standard sandboxing, scoped storage, and content URI permissions to keep imported files isolated to the App.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Because we do not collect or store your personal information on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly through your device (delete the App, clear its data, reset your Advertising ID). For any data Google holds about advertising interactions, you can exercise rights through your Google account at myaccount.google.com .

11. International users

The App is operated from [COUNTRY]. By using the App, you understand that any limited ad-related data described above may be processed by Google in jurisdictions outside your own under Google's privacy framework.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will be updated whenever we make changes. Material changes will be reflected in the App's store listing and, where required by law, surfaced inside the App.
